From the topics seen in class, do you think they are useful for your daily life? Why / Why not?

In my opinion, all these topics are very useful for our daily life because thanks to them, we can be successful when writing, since a letter, to an essay. Knowing how to use the punctuation marks, like comma, hyphen, etc. we can also be successful because someone who knows the correct usage of the punctuation marks is well seen in front of the society.

Also, in my opinion, I like this class because of all the knowledge I get and the practice I make in order to have a better orthography and to develop the knowledge I get.

In conclusion, paying attention and having practices with all these knowledge, will make having a positive result, the person would be really prepared for the daily life problems and won’t suffer because of the lack of knowing the correct usage of the punctuation marks, and the different types of sentences. 

Why I liked or disliked "Night"

I liked "Night" because of the story that it has, I really liked how it describes the life that Jewish people had during WWII and how they were treated by the Germans. I really liked how the author describes his life during the holocaust. I felt very sad when his dad died, I imagined myself suffering all those situations, I think I won't survive. 

Something I really admire is that the author once he survives to the holocaust, he receives a Nobel Prize, I really liked that book, even I can say it is one of my favorite books. 

Why I liked or disliked "Of Mice and Men"

At the beginning, I didn't like "Of Mice and Men" because of the language they used in the book, I mean, the language was kind of confusing, they used some bad words and words whose meaning was difficult to know, so I had to read with a dictionary by my side. 

Beside that, I liked the story, I really liked how a friendship can change into a tragical event. That way of showing how society can influence into changing a friendship, made me reflect of how people can change and that also I have changed my optinion or something I had to do because of society and then I regret of that. 

A Perfect Male Friendship

Most of people, especially men, have always wanted to have a perfect or idealized friendship.  Most men think that’s impossible, a few others have like a kind of perfect friendship. In the book “Of Mice and Men” of John Steinbeck, we can see clearly that idealized male friendship.

The book has two main characters: George and Lennie. These two guys have passed through many problems. When you see a relationship of men friends, you probably say that’s not true, that’s what Slim said to George:

“Ain’t many guys travel around together. I don’t know why. Maybe everybody in the whole damn world is scared of each other”. (Steinbeck).

This last part that Slim told George is very interesting because that can be an important cause of why there are not male friendships.

George’s life is not good, even though he has a friendship with Lennie, his life is not good, that’s why these friendships cannot be perfect, and that is what George tells Lennie:

“I could get along so easy and so nice if I didn’t have you on my tail. I could live so easy and maybe have a girl”. (Steinbeck).

This way of thinking of living better with no one, is another reason of why male friendships cannot be perfect.

As I have said, this is an idealized male friendship which ends in a tragic moment (George kills Lennie). This shows us that humanity is not filled of goods people, we all have been bad people, we cannot have good relationships, we prefer living alone. We are scared of sharing good moments with others.

D.A. Injustice

Dear Diego,

I would like to know if you pull help me with a big problem. I had to deliver a project about Mexican cultures like Mayan, Aztec, etc. The problem is that my mad teacher read my project and he said that I will get a D.A., which is not fair because I mad my job with the specifications he gave us. 

My teacher argues that I am not using the correct way to cite the sources of information I used in my job; he also said that I took all the information from Wikipedia and Yahoo Answers but that it not true, I showed him the web pages from which I got the information but he still says that I will get a D.A. I tried to talk to him in order to make a treat in which both will be benefitted, specially me, but he didn't accept. 

I hope you can help with his problem, maybe you can talk to him or maybe you can hit him (I'm just kidding), something that can make him change of opinion. Also, you can tell him that I'm a responsible student, that I have no problems with any teacher (which is true), you can tell him that I can repeat the work, or something like that. I know you will convince him to change of opinion.

An Anecdote

One day, my dad and I were driving on the street when we had the red light, suddenly, we saw a couple of elder people walking by the street; but something was happening to the elder man, he was like pressing his chest, my dad and I knew instantaneously that he was having a heart attack.  We went down from the car and tried to help the elder woman who was desperate because her husband was having a heart attack. We called the Red Cross and while we were calling, a woman went down from a Microbus and said she was a kind of paramedic, she started asking many questions to the elder woman and also to the man, but the man wasn’t responding, he had a face of having a big pain.

My dad told to come back to the car and we left the elder couple with the woman who was a paramedic. As we were leaving them the Red Cross arrived, when we were again in the car my dad told that the man had died, I tried not to believe him, but the man’s face was the one of someone who was dying. Many months ago, a little white cross was placed in the corner where the accident happened; it was a cross to remember the death man.

This moment really left a teaching to me because it made me reflect and love the closest people to me because we don’t know when they won’t be with us anymore.
